About
This is a blog about me. That may sound rather self-centered but there is a reason I want to write my thoughts and memories here on a blog–Just So You Know.
I have had (should I say, “I’m having?”) a very interesting life. I’ve lived in six American States and six countries. I’m not getting any younger and I want to leave my memories and my thoughts on life for my family and others.
The sad truth in most families is that after a generation or two they forget about those who have gone before. Sometimes people just don’t like to talk about themselves so their children and grandchildren don’t know stories from their lives. My father, Howard, served for several years of World War II in the South Pacific. The war was horrible for most of the soldiers on both sides. He witnessed terrible things. In the course of his service he did some terrible things. He didn’t talk much about his experiences during the war. He’s gone now so I can’t ask him. I wish I knew more about my father’s wartime experiences as well as other stories from his life.
When I worked at the Grayson County College Christian Campus Center (1994-1999), I used to tell my secretary, Mary Blocker, many stories from my travels and military experience. She encouraged me to write an autobiography. I honestly don’t think anyone would buy my autobiography if I wrote it but maybe my family and friends will read my blog. So, here it goes.
I would love your comments and feedback. If you’re related to me and you think I’ve reported something differently than it actually happened, please leave a comment to “straighten me out.” Of course our memories belong to us so maybe we just remember things from a different perspective and we may both be right.
I hope you enjoy my blog.
